Changing your diet for the better doesn’t have to be difficult. Follow these three simple steps to better health and a longer life.

The diet that can do wonders

It’s official. Switching to a Mediterranean diet can improve your health and increase your life span. After monitoring 23,000 Britons for up to 17 years, a new long-term study shows that a simple shift in what you eat can cut your risk of heart disease.

Researchers have found that healthy people who ate a Med-style diet were up to 16 per cent less likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease. And this offers the potential to avoid 12.5 per cent of cardiovascular deaths in the UK — simply from a change in eating habits.

Three steps to a healthy heart

Now, we know that many diets offer improvements in health — only for you to find that they’re difficult to follow (just ask anyone on the 5-2 diet about fast days). But that’s not the case here.

The Mediterranean diet provides you with a balanced and colourful variety of foods — many of which you probably already eat. It’s remarkably similar to the government’s Eatwell Guide, and you can manage it in three simple steps:

1. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and nuts. Also, when cooking, use veg or plant-based oils (like olive oil).

2. Consume lower amounts of red meats and moderate amounts of dairy, fish, poultry and (the exciting bit) wine.

3. Base your meals on starchy, wholemeal foods — including bread, pasta, potatoes and rice.

Improve wellbeing in your workplace

As well as protecting your heart, a Med-style diet can be a boost to your business. Looking after the health and wellbeing of your people helps them to work more productively. And that’s why our menus offer everything they need to follow healthier eating habits.

We create a wide range of freshly-cooked meals that give your people all the nutrients they need to stay healthy (though they’ll have to get the wine on their own time).
