We go to great lengths to make sure we employ great people here at Eurest. And that’s why it’s especially rewarding when someone else recognises the fact — like Compass just did with its Chef of the Year competition.
Cream of the crop
Chef of the Year gives chefs from all over Compass Group the chance to demonstrate their passion for food along with their culinary skills. Hundreds of chefs applied to take part in the competition, and judges whittled this down to just 24 competitors across the three categories, Apprentice, Junior and Senior Chefs of the Year. Getting past that first stage was an accomplishment in itself.
Coming out on top
We’re proud to announce that in this year’s competition, two of our talented junior chefs won medals. The Junior event saw eight competitors cook three courses in just one and a half hours. Taking this gruelling test in their stride, Junior Chef Eleanor De Maria took home the gold award and her colleague Dwayne Marcell came close behind with bronze.
Eleanor and Dwayne represent the creativity and passion that all our chefs possess. And that’s testament to the comprehensive development and training we offer to all our people. It goes to show that our efforts to cultivate our employees and support their development really are worthwhile.
